Was Invalid
For Six Years
Montrose, Nov 8.- Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Berke Who died at her
home here Tuesday after being an invalid for six years will be held in St.
Patrick's church here at 10:30 Friday Morning.
Mrs. Berke suffered a stroke six years ago and has been confined to her
bed since that time. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Berke was born in Johnsburg, Ill in 1881. She was married at
Northfield MN. They came to South Dakota ?? years ago and in 1895
purchased the roller mill here. The mill burned shortly afterward,
but the couple erected a new and larger mill which had a capacity of 150
barrels of flower daily. The mill was closed at the death of Mr.
Berke in 1921 and has been idle since that time.
Mrs. Berke is survived by seven children. Rose Sullivan and Herman
Berke of Vermillion: Mrs. Wade, National City California, Roman
Berke, Britton and Bryan Berke, Minneapolis as well as one sister and a
brother in Illinois and 19 grandchildren.
